Occupational Therapy New Zealand Whakaora Ngangahau Aotearoa

Aue rā, he aitua

Aue rā, he aitua. E Matua Rackie kua riro atu koe ki tua o te pae. No reira moe mai, moe mai, moe mai rā.

We were very saddened to hear that Honorary Member Matua Rackie Pahau has passed away.

Matua’s quiet, authoritative demeanour and kind spiritual nature brought many years of comfort to OTNZ-WNA councillors and staff and underpinned our courage to embrace our treaty journey.

Thank you for your blessings and the tāonga you gave us.

Wereta Wairakau Pahau (Matua Rakie) passed away peacefully at Hutt Hospital at 5am on Tuesday 30 June 2020, surrounded by his wife Iris, his four children Hera, Garrison, Ronda and Roland, and one of his five mokopuna, Ataaria.

Kua hinga te totara i te wao nui a Tane. The totara has fallen in the forest of Tane.
