OTNZ- WNA Honorary Life Member: Dr Linda Wilson
It is with great sadness that the Occupational Therapy Association of New Zealand Whakaora Ngangahau Aotearoa announces the death of Honorary Life Member Dr Linda Wilson (July 1949 – June 2017) following a period of illness.
Linda was for a long period at the forefront of occupational therapy in what was an extensive and diverse career.
In 1969 Linda passed her state examination in occupational therapy and in 1970 she became a registered occupational therapist. Her illustrious career spanned hospital based services, consulting, contracting, writing and research, lecturing and supervision.
In 1970 Linda first became a member of our professional association. She held a number of roles within the organisation from branch convener and liaison person for Otago / Southland, to holding office as the New Zealand delegate of the World Federation of Occupational Therapy legislative committee 1989 to 1993.
In 1996 Linda became the Francis Rutherford Lecture Award recipient. Her professional experience included being Head of School Occupational Therapy Otago Polytechnic 1990 - 2005. More recently Linda was contracted to the Occupational Therapy Board of NZ (OTBNZ) leading the review and development of the occupational therapy professional competencies for registration.
Linda was awarded Honorary Life Membership in February 2016.
Linda was a dynamic, inspirational woman who touched the lives of many of you.
Linda’s funeral will be held at 10.00 am on Friday 16 June at the Matamata Club, Rawhiti Lounge, Matamata.
