World Occupational Therapy Day - 27th October 2017
WFOT World Occupational Therapy Day
Kia ora koutou,
Don’t forget to promote and celebrate WFOT World Occupational Therapy Day during Occupational Therapy week. This year it falls on Friday, 27th October and the theme is Inform, Inspire, Influence.
As you are all now WFOT members you can easily access the World OT Day resources to make it easier to celebrate. Just log in to the WFOT website, go to the Resource Centre tag and then scroll down the options to find World OT Day. There you will find resources such as:
Desktop calendar to use as your wall paper
Posters to download or print
Guidelines on writing a press release.
You can also join the Occupational Therapy International Online Network (OTION) and network with Occupational Therapists around the world to share news and ideas about World OT day.
World OT Day would not be the same without the OT Virtual Exchange (#OTVx17) which will be held on October 27, 2017 and will be using the World Occupational Therapy Day theme: Inform, Inspire and Influence. This year the OTVx will be an 8-hour interactive online conference with invited speakers including a Handicap International who will discuss conflict and emergencies, World Health Organization (WHO) discussing the Assistive Technology/GATE Programme; two keynote speakers, Marleen van Doesburg-Kaijen and Claire Craig from the European Network of Occupational Therapy in Higher Education (ENOTHE) and our WFOT President, Marilyn Pattison.
I recommend planning ahead by looking at the preliminary OTVx17 schedule via http://www.wfot.org/AboutUs/WorldOTDay.aspx
We would love to hear about your World OT Day activities so please share via WFOT and OTNZ-WNA social media including Facebook and Twitter.
The World Federation of Occupational Therapists Congress will be held in Cape Town in May 2017. Unfortunately, there are many Occupational Therapists living in South Africa who cannot afford to attend.
We would like to enable more South African Occupational Therapists to attend this conference, to be able to represent their country by presenting their research and practice, and to network with other Occupational Therapists around the world – in doing so they will share their practice with others and also learn from other Occupational Therapists - all with the common goal of enhancing their skills and knowledge which will help the people they provide Occupational Therapy to.
Please help us by making a donation to the Give a Little page. Go to www.givealittle.co.nz
Individual donations are most welcome or you may want to organise a group fund raising activity and combine your donations. Whatever way you do it, OTNZ-WNA will ensure this money helps our South African colleagues to attend the WFOT congress.
If we combine our efforts to support those to attend the congress in their own country, we will also be supporting the congress theme - "Connected in diversity: positioned for impact.”
