The role of occupational therapists in providing alternatives to seclusion rooms

OTNZ-WNA has recently been proactive over the issue of the use of seclusion rooms in some schools and have outlined, to a targeted range of education stakeholders and politicians, the role and skills of occupational therapists/kaiwhakaora ngangahau in finding alternative solutions for supporting students and seeking opportunities for closer collaboration. We are planning to follow this up with a position paper. Our thanks to all members from the Chypot SIG group who assisted with the development of the communication.
