Our Specialist Mental Health services at the Canterbury DHB have introduced three exciting new positions, offering experienced Allied Health Professionals the opportunity to advance their career and move into a senior leadership role as an Allied Health Consultant. These are pivotal roles in clinical and strategic leadership which will see you at the forefront of our service transformation, helping reshape the way we operate through leading and developing Allied Health services that will sustain us well into the future.
These are permanent, full-time opportunities for those with an Allied Health qualification and current Annual Practicing Certificate, as well as a relevant post graduate qualification at Masters Level (or working towards this).
We’re seeking experienced leaders who are innovative, outcome focused, have a deep commitment to work in collaboration across disciplines and are driven to achieve professional and operational excellence!
These roles will work in one of three services:
- Forensic and Intellectual Disability
- Speciality Services Cluster
- Child and Adolescent and Family Services
The Role: Where you fit in
As an Allied Health Consultant you will work in partnership with the Clinical Director, Nurse Consultant and the Service Manager/Nurse Director of the allocated service to facilitate the ongoing development of mental health best practice, promote inter-disciplinary models of care and lead service improvements that deliver improved outcomes for consumers and their families/whānau.
Reporting to the Director of Allied Health you will be part of the Allied Health Directorate, also working closely with the Allied Health Clinical Leaders and Allied Health Educator. The roles are firmly focused on leadership within the services, however you will also have strong clinical experience within your area of practice. You will be based at either Hillmorton Hospital or The Princess Margaret Hospital Campus but working with our regional Mental Health Services and across the Canterbury Health system.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing leadership for a dynamic team of Allied Health clinicians within your service area, shining a light on Allied Health professions ensuring their centrality in the planning and delivery of services
- Supporting the integration of research evidence into practice and the implementation of contemporary models of care
- To develop, maintain and evaluate organisational systems to facilitate delivery of safe, quality care
- To provide clinical expertise at an advanced practice level within a specialist clinical area, SMHS
Your skills will include:
- experience in a senior leadership role
- the ability to articulate a compelling vision for all Allied Health disciplines
- advanced level of knowledge and clinical experience in a specialist field within Mental Health sector
- experience in leading improvement in service delivery and or practice development
- strong professional networks and relationship skills
- champions the values of the Canterbury DHB and acts ethically and with integrity
- having a allied Health qualification and current Annual Practicing Certificate is essential
- bringing relevant post graduate qualification at Masters level or working towards same.
