JOB DESCRIPTION

What is the role?

A unique opportunity has become available for a passionate and collaborative Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our friendly and supportive Child and Adolescent Mental Health team on the North West of Tasmania.

Please note this position holds a multidisciplinary classification and this role will be filled on merit. This position is also being advertised as an Allied Health Professional (502814).

Vacancy:

  • Permanent, part time, day, day work, working 45.6 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.
  • Fixed term, full time, day work, working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible for until 1 April 2021.
  • Fixed term, full time, day work, working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible for until 1 December 2020.

Part time hours may be negotiated with the successful applicants.

Who are we?

We are a small multi- disciplinary team of professionals operating out of the Reece House building in Burnie. The team consists of a Psychiatrist, Career Medical Officer, Clinical Nurse Consultant, Senior Social Worker and Social Workers and administrative staff.

Salary

$90,245 to $95,383 per annum

A multi-disciplinary allowance for the difference between the relevant nursing classification and Allied Health Professional Level 3 may be payable. Please discuss with the contact person to determine how this may benefit you.

Duties

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will:

  • Undertake the delivery of specialist services to clients of Child and Adolescents Mental Health Services (CAMHS) based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework that promotes community awareness in relation to mental health.
  • Provide clinical leadership and expert knowledge in all aspects of primary health care, utilising an advanced clinical practice framework for the management of clients with complex mental health needs within the designated area of practice.
  • Develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate programs and activities to improve client outcomes within the multidisciplinary team.
Essential Requirements

  • Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that lead to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom.
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.  The following checks are to be conducted:

3.  Disciplinary action in previous employment check

Desirable Requirements

  • Current Driver’s Licence.
  • Holds or is working towards tertiary qualifications in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Care.
