Moving and Handling Coordinator

Vacancy No: TAR03325

Taranaki Base Hospital

12-month fixed term contract

0.6 FTE / 48 hours per fortnight

  • Great opportunity in a sector that makes a difference to the well-being of people
  • Taranaki location

The Taranaki District Health Board is a large organisation (2,107 staff, $365m cost-centre) operating in the exciting, changing Health sector.

In Taranaki, it is easy to achieve an enviable lifestyle without having to compromise your career path.  The region’s amazing mountain, rivers, lakes, fantastic coastline and outstanding surfing and tramping opportunities, masses of parks and gardens, as well as a major events calendar, make it a great place to live and work.

In this role of a Moving and Handling Coordinator, you’ll have organisation-wide responsibility to co-ordinate the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of a moving and handling programme for Taranaki DHB. This includes project management, process development, reporting, administration and liaising with all stakeholders (management, employees and H&S representatives and a variety of external parties).

You’ll also contribute to H&S strategy, developing a H&S culture and help develop our annual programme of work. The role reports to the Health & Safety Manager.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • An understanding of manual handling techniques and skills in the clinical and non-clinical environment
  • Registered Health Practitioner with a profession relevant to the role
  • Experience in project implementation with demonstrated positive results and outcomes
  • The ability to manage a diversity of relationships and the ability to be successful via influence.

This is a great opportunity to make a difference in Health & Safety and in so doing, contribute positively to a large New Zealand community organisation’s culture & development. A competitive salary will be offered.
