Arohanui School is a large progressive special school based in West Auckland. We cater for students aged 5 to 21 years with intellectual and associated disabilities. Our students are educated in a range of settings including our base school, satellite classes and our community-based centre for post-18 year olds.
This is a permanent position and involves a varied caseload, working collaboratively with teachers, whanau, therapists and teacher aides to enhance learning outcomes for our students.
The ideal applicant will have:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well to learners with disabilities and their families and whanau
- The ability to consult and set priorities while considering the needs of all stakeholders
- The capacity to work within classrooms to establish effective practice and to meet both group and individual goals
- A knowledge of ASD approaches, sensory processing, hand function, play and equipment accreditation
