 Occupational Therapist – Wellington

 

New Zealand Artificial Limb Service

 

 

 

Permanent, full time (flexible)

 

Reports directly to Regional Manager

 

 

Peke Waihanga Artificial Limb Service has an exciting new vacancy for an Occupational Therapist to be based in our Wellington Centre in Newtown. The Occupational Therapist will work alongside a dedicated, interdisciplinary team to provide a world-class, patient centred service.

 

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in prosthetics/orthotics and rehabilitation, and strong, active relationships with District Health Boards and other service providers. The ability to maintain and further develop these networks will be key in the co-ordination of patient care.

 

The Occupational Therapist will provide critical rehabilitation interventions, including

 

·identifying the patient’s functional goals, which can include self-care, home management, work tasks, driving, childcare, leisure activities,

 

·providing prosthetic rehabilitation assessments and plans

 

·providing prosthetic training

 

·analysing tasks and providing modifications to achieve functional goals

 

·providing education on compensatory techniques and equipment to accomplish tasks and activities

 

·identifying and addressing psychosocial issues

 

·provision of telehealth consultations as required

 

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist with strong communication skills and the ability to articulate within an interdisciplinary team including surgeons, physiotherapists and clinical prosthetists/orthotists, as well as a wide socio-economic range of patients.

To be considered, you must be a qualified Occupational Therapist with New Zealand registration and have a NZ passport or valid NZ work visa.This role requires travel, so you will need to have a current drivers’ licence.
