JOB DESCRIPTION

Occupational Therapist

Permanent, Full Time (1.0 FTE)
Acute Stroke / Renal, Allied Health Inpatient Team
North Shore Hospital, Waitematā DHB
Our Occupational Therapy service has a full-time role available for an experienced and passionate Occupational Therapist.  You will work on the acute stroke/renal ward providing best practice intervention and rehabilitation through a patient-centred approach.
We are looking for someone who has a broad range of experience working in the inpatient setting including in the area of acute stroke. We seek someone who is able to demonstrate clinical excellence in this area to join the Inpatient Occupational Therapy team. You will have experience assessing and providing wheelchair and seating solutions, and assessing for how neurological impairments impact occupational performance. You will have a passion for working with patients of all ages with stroke and other medical/renal conditions within the acute setting.
You must be a New Zealand registered Occupational Therapist and possess at least 2 years post graduate experience, including at least one year’s experience working in the area of stroke. You must be able to demonstrate strong clinical skills, strength in organisation and communication, and ideally have some experience in and be motivated and passionate about quality improvement. You will have experience in supporting students and staff as this role requires you to provide clinical support, teaching /education to the team with regards to stroke/renal conditions.  Demonstrating commitment to working as part of a cohesive Occupational Therapy and multidisciplinary team is essential.
