Occupational Therapist

  • Fixed term full-time (40 hours per week) until September 2022,
  • Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board NZ is essential
  • Experience in rehabilitation principals  is advantageous.
  • Experience in working with older people and their health needs is also advantageous.

The Team: What we do

An opportunity now exists for an Occupational Therapist to work in rehabilitation for people who have experienced a significant health event that has resulted in a hospital admission. Working within one of the Older Person’s Health wards, you will work with interdisciplinary teams that work collaboratively and takes a patient centred approach.

This role is an inpatient, fixed term position at the purpose build Burwood Hospital and presents an opportunity to work with older people who have a physical or medical condition requiring rehabilitation.

Burwood Hospital offers the opportunity to be part of both the ward team and the wider Occupational Therapy Department and take the opportunities to access professional development through, in-service training and clinical supervision.

The Role: Where you fit in

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Assessment of patients and planning interventions that reflect the needs and goals of the individual;
  • Working with patients to enable optimum safety and function during this phase of their admission, and support discharge from the rehabilitation setting
  • Working within an Interdisciplinary team to ensure the best outcome for patients

Your skills will include:

  • Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board NZ is essential
  • 2-3 years’ clinical experience would be advantageous
  • This position would suit an individual with experience in working with older people and their health needs, and /or who wants to expand their skills in either in rehabilitation in a physical health post.
