JOB DESCRIPTION

Occupational Therapist – Allied Health Service

Occupational Therapist – Allied Health Service

Southland Hospital

  • Permanent, full time (40 hours per week)
  • Recent graduates and experienced clinicians encouraged to apply

Occupational Therapy Services are a key part of the Allied Health Team at Southland Hospital, providing care to patients across the continuum of care, including inpatient wards, outpatients and the community.

About us

Southern DHB has the largest regional coverage of all the New Zealand health boards, providing services to 350,000 people in diverse communities across a huge geographical area. We take pride in all the services we provide and our aim is to improve, promote and protect the health of our region. We believe that our dedicated and passionate staff are a significant driving force behind the achievement of these standards, and we need more like minded people to help us continue providing for our community.

About the opportunity

This is a great opportunity for either a new graduate or experienced Occupational Therapist to take up a full time permanent role. You’ll be working predominantly in the Acute hospital setting and in other clinical areas as required.

You will provide Assessment, Intervention, Discharge and Programme Evaluation for clients in your allocated area.  You’ll ensure Occupational Therapy equipment and materials are used effectively and efficiently and contribute to the development of Occupational Therapy Services.

About you

Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team are very important. In addition, you should demonstrate sound organisation and prioritisation skills and have good problem solving abilities. You’ll need to be a New Zealand Registered Occupational Therapist with a current practising certificate and have a current NZ driver licence.

Our successful candidate will have well-developed interpersonal skills and be passionate about their work and the impact they can have on our patients. In return, our successful candidates will be well supported in our team with access to peer review, clinical supervision and professional development opportunities.
