When you work with the Canterbury District Health Board, you’re part of something very special. We plan, fund and deliver health services to the almost 600,000 people that live in the Canterbury region. Our primary goal is to put people at the heart of everything we do.

The Team: What we do

The Child Development Service are a community based team of health professionals who are passionate about improving the health outcomes of children with developmental delays or disabilities. We work collaboratively with families / whanau and other services to support their goals and reach their potential. Our team of Allied Health Professionals work with children in their homes, early childhood centres and at our own clinics in Christchurch Central City. Our service covers Kaikoura to Rangitata.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a NZ registered Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team on a fixed-term part-time basis (20 hours per week) covering parental leave for approximately 12 months.   • Actively engaging the child and their family/whanau in all aspects of intervention;
  • Helping to facilitate service improvements and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Your skills will include:

  • The ability to be flexible and adaptable to manage a varying case load;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and foster trusted relationships with clients, their family/whanau, and external service providers;
  • Current NZ Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board and current Annual Practicing Certificate;
  • Enable accreditation as well as experience within child development, paediatrics or disability services is advantageous;
  • As this is a community-based service where travel is required, a NZ driver’s license with the ability to drive a manual car is essential.
