At Northland DHB, some of us are born and bred locals, others have chosen to call Northland home. But all of us share a close team spirit that truly connects with community members in our care. No wonder going the extra mile is second nature around here – we’re looking after whānau, whilst being supported and encouraged to look after our own wellbeing.
Right now we have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Occupational Therapist with a passion for working with children with special needs and their whānau to join our Community Paediatrics multi-disciplinary team in a part time position working 24 hours per week.
Our team are based at Whangārei Hospital campus in a whānau-friendly setting away from the main hospital and offer a dynamic environment where you will receive ongoing support and enjoy flexibility and opportunities for professional development.
Northland DHB is committed to a system that is Tiriti (Treaty) based and one that actively and purposefully invests in equitable outcomes for its Māori population.
Northland DHB recognises Māori as tāngata Whenua (first peoples) of New Zealand and have prioritised Māori health. We understand our Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations in relation to:
- Iwi/Māori health development
- Mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge and expertise)
While the work can be challenging, it is extremely rewarding, providing assessment and intervention, and ensuring essential disability-related equipment and housing modification needs are met in the community setting across the Whangārei Area.
To be successful in this role you will hold/have:
- Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand
- A current practicing certificate
- A full drivers licence
- Experience in neurological rehabilitation; and
- Ideally have a relevant postgraduate qualification and experience in paediatrics
Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively work with tamariki and whānau to ensure positive outcomes, while your organisational and time management skills will be pivotal in managing your caseload.
If this sounds like the opportunity for you, we look forward to hearing from you.
A career with Northland DHB will see you action meaningful change in the region we love, and in your professional development – all whilst enjoying everything the stunning North has to offer. You really can enjoy the best of both.
