JOB DESCRIPTION
Location: Hutt Hospital
Contract: Permanent part time
Hours: 20 hours per week working 3-5 days (negotiable)
ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you interesting in providing brief Occupational Therapy interventions and supporting the health equity focus within our expanding Interdisciplinary team?
This is a great opportunity for an experienced therapist looking for part-time hours in a supportive team. You’ll be seeing clients leaving hospital or who are referred from one of our Community Partners including Primary Care practices.
People discharged from hospital may be recovering from an acute medical admission or may be referred following surgery. Our community clients have a variety of long-term, age related, palliative and also neuro-degenerative conditions.
Intervention will range from simple equipment provision, non-complex housing options, education in self- management strategies, and liaison/referral onto other colleagues and services.
We are also looking to better understand the needs of our clients as referrals come in. So the person in this position will be involved in triaging referrals, proactively contacting our Maori, Pacific and other clients to discuss their needs and what Te Herenga Tangata may offer to assist.
You’ll have a number of Occupational Therapist colleagues as well as the skills of an extensive team of Allied health professions, RNs and Doctors to draw upon. We will be moving towards more inter-professional practice approaches and are looking for therapists keen to cross skill and make the best use of what will be a growing Assistant workforce.
Along with a commitment to health equity and integration, you’ll need sound clinical skills and also great communication, and inter personal skills. You will find professional support from your Occupational Therapy colleagues within the team and Professional Leader for Occupational Therapy.
We are looking to develop a culturally diverse team and strongly encourage applicants of all backgrounds with the right skills to consider applying.
