JOB DESCRIPTION

Professional Advisor, Tangata Whenua

-Occupational therapy practitioner expert

-Engage with practitioners and advise the Board

The Occupational Therapy Board’s purpose is the safety of health consumers which it will

secure by ensuring all therapists meet the requirements of the HPCA Act (2003). The

Occupational Therapy Board is a Tiriti-based organisation. As such, the capability to work

in partnership with 1 Tangata Whenua is crucial. The Board is therefore seeking a

Professional Advisor, Tangata Whenua.

The Professional Advisor, Tangata Whenua will be responsible for providing advice to

practitioners and to the governance board, on the contemporary practice of occupational

therapy. Advice content may include issues such as notifications relating to conduct,

health, and competence of practitioners. You will be a member of the Boards

Notifications Assessment Committee. The role supports the auditing of competence

through the online platform ePortfolio. Additionally, assessment of qualifications and

competence for registration is a key part of the role. You will be the conduit between

practitioners and the Board and represent the Board at conferences/hui.

To be considered for this important position, you must be a senior-level occupational

therapist or a senior sdvisor to an occupational therapy team within a DHB or private

agency. You must have credibility in the sector and be a confident presenter and subject

matter expert. You will be a person who understands the importance of contemporary

practice, but who is also forward-thinking. You will have a high level of written

communication skills and enjoy working and contributing where needed in a small team

environment.

A flexible work-life balance is offered, including an option to work from home. There will

be a requirement to attend korero in Wellington from time to time, as well as attending

training and conferences.
