This is a newly created Greenfield role and we are seeking an allied health professional with a difference to fill the role – someone who will lead our team of support workers and rehab coaches in the provision of best practice in rehabilitation and support for people with acquired or traumatic brain injury.
The Laura Fergusson Trust Canterbury is an independent, not-for-profit, community and residential rehabilitation provider. Our residential service provides long term support and slow stream rehabilitation for younger people with a variety of neurological conditions, including acquired or traumatic brain injury, while seeking “ordinary life” opportunities for them.
Based at our Fergusson Unit on Ilam Road and reporting to the General Manager, we are looking for someone who will join our leadership group and lead our care and rehabilitation team as they go about achieving the organisation’s vision on a day to day basis.
The Service Manager will work closely alongside the Clinical Manager in practice and people development and the operations of the service. The Service Manager will manage key relationships with family/whanau, ACC, Ministry of Health and Canterbury District Health Board while overseeing the case management and rehabilitation needs for each client.
You will be joining a forward focused and evolving organisation with a strong reputation for the quality of service it provides. An organisation determined to reflect current sector best practice in all its operations, constantly aware of changes in the needs of its clients. The Laura Fergusson Trust aims to lead societal change on behalf of those we serve.
To achieve this you will need to:
- Be a New Zealand Registered Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Speech and Language Therapist
- Have a minimum of three years’ experience in a leadership and management role
- Have worked in acquired or traumatic brain injury rehabilitation in your own practice
- Have excellent personal organisation and time/task management skills.
- Be an empathetic, empowering and motivating leader of others
Experience working with people with disabilities and a knowledge of the Health and Disability Sector Standards, Code of Health and Disability Services Consumer’s Rights and the Accident Rehabilitation and Compensation Insurance Act would be advantageous.
If you are interested in this exciting opportunity we would love to hear from you.
