Life is a collection of small moments: meaningful moments, challenging moments, moments to remember. At SCDHB, we want to support our people to enjoy more of the moments that matter. Are you ready to join us?

We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker with mental health experience to join our ICAMHS team.

Join our innovative and forward thinking ICAMHS team who were amongst New Zealand’s first Mental Health Services in utilising the strengths recovery model of case management to enhance client recovery.

You will work as part of our multi-disciplinary team in supporting 12 – 19 year olds currently involved within the Justice setting from an Alcohol, Drug and/or Mental Health perspective. This will involve close liaison with CYFS, Police, Education and Health services.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Comprehensive Assessment Skills for Children and Adolescents
  • A head for Risk Management and Future Planning
  • Sound Intervention Skills reflective of Evidence Based Practice
  • Exceptional Documentation Skills
  • Effective Communication Ability, able to build good rapport with young people
  • Case Management Experience
  • A Team Spirit, who can think on their feet, take active participation in problem solving, leadership and professional development
  • An understanding of the ‘Strengths Model’ as a framework of care and the client/family led collaborative approach to recovery.
  • A Current Drivers Licence (Essential)

If you are eager to secure a position in health that doesn’t involve shift or weekend work (just Monday to Friday business hours), then this job is for you.

Why choose South Canterbury DHB?

As one of the country’s smaller DHBs, our people always have room to move and grow. Working with patients right across the hospital, you’ll get a wide exposure to specialties and enjoy a flat team structure, where processes run smoothly and there are no barriers to leadership or innovation. You’ll always be supported to thrive through our many professional development opportunities.

On top of all that, you’ll get to enjoy the fantastic Timaru lifestyle: between the beach and the mountains, that long-coveted work-life balance is truly achievable here.

At SCDHB, integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. We are a proudly diverse team, as we know a diverse and inclusive workforce achieves the best outcomes for our patients and communities. If you share in these core values and bring them into every aspect of your patient care, we can’t wait for you to join us.
